RUCOSAN® B-WB

Description

RUCOSAN® B-WB is an aqueous emulsion based on modified silanes and polysiloxanes, designed as a water-repellent impregnation agent for mineral substrates. It is used in the formulation of water-based impregnations and primers that reduce water absorption without blocking the breathability of the substrate.

Its technology enables deep penetration, high water repellency and a pronounced beading effect on absorbent surfaces. In addition, it helps prevent salt efflorescence formation and shows low dirt pick-up tendency.

Being solvent-free, it is a suitable alternative for water-based formulations focused on the protection of mineral surfaces.

Effectively reduces capillary water absorption in mineral materials, helping protect façades, masonry and exposed construction elements.
Allows the substrate to remain breathable, preventing internal moisture accumulation and maintaining the material’s hygrothermal balance.
Provides hydrophobic protection from the early stages after application, improving performance against rain and environmental humidity.
Creates a pronounced water-sliding effect on treated surfaces, reducing visible wetting.
Migrates into the mineral substrate, creating longer-lasting protection compared to purely surface treatments.
By limiting water ingress and migration, it helps prevent soluble salts from reaching the surface.

Applications and use

RUCOSAN® B-WB – Water-repellent impregnation agent for mineral substrates

Application

Water-based impregnations and primers for absorbent mineral materials.

Use

Used as a hydrophobizing agent to reduce water absorption of the substrate without affecting vapor permeability. Depending on substrate absorption, it is diluted with water at ratios from 1:4 to 1:9 and uniformly applied by brush, roller or immersion. It can also be used in hydrophobic primers combined with hydrosols.

RUCOSAN® B-WB – Integral water-repellent additive

Application

Cementitious systems and mineral materials based on cement.

Use

Incorporated as an integral hydrophobic additive to improve water resistance and help prevent efflorescence formation. The recommended dosage is 0.1–1.0% based on cement according to the technical datasheet, or 0.2–1.0% depending on the Spanish product range.
