On September 27th, we celebrated our third consecutive World Cleanup Day, a high-energy cleanup event held in the forest near our central warehouse in La Pobla de Claramunt (Barcelona). And it was a huge success! Not only did we collect 370 kg. of waste, but we also saw the largest number of volunteers to date.
What is World Cleanup Day?
World Cleanup Day is one of the largest environmental initiatives globally. Every year, millions of people across more than 191 countries come together for a single purpose: to clean up our planet. Throughout September, volunteers around the world organize cleanups on beaches, rivers, forests, and streets, making a positive impact on the environment and their communities.
The Power of Teamwork
We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm this event generated among our team. The passion and commitment to sustainability were truly inspiring. This year, we had the highest turnout of participants, allowing us to collect a total of 370.5 kg of waste—far surpassing the 220 kg collected last year! Here’s how the waste we collected breaks down:
- Plastic: 130.5 kg
- Cardboard: 22.5 kg
- Glass: 11.8 kg
- Other materials: 205.7 kg
Once again, our volunteers have shown that when we work together, we can make a real difference.
Our Commitment to Sustainability
At Emsa, we firmly believe that every small action counts in our mission to create a cleaner, more sustainable world. This initiative is just one of many steps we are taking to integrate sustainability into all our activities. If you’d like to learn more about our commitment, we invite you to check out our 2023 Sustainability Report.
Thank You to the Entire Team!
None of this would have been possible without the dedication and enthusiasm of our team, who once again demonstrated their strong commitment to protecting the environment. Together, we continue to build a cleaner future.
