Today we speak with Alberto Iglesias, new Business Unit Manager of Performance at Emsa Tecnología Química.
Technical expertise and market vision at the service of the business

Alberto is an Industrial Chemical Engineer, with training in Chemical Engineering and Supply Chain, and has more than 10 years of experience in chemical distribution, particularly in the personal care and home care markets. Before joining Emsa, he developed his career in technical and commercial environments, gaining a solid understanding of products, markets and relationships with customers and suppliers.
After one year as part of the Emsa team as Product Manager and with an in-depth knowledge of the business, Alberto now assumes the leadership of the Performance Business Unit. In this interview, he shares his vision of the company, the value it brings to the market, and the challenges and opportunities that will shape the future of the personal care and home care sectors.
After one year working at Emsa, what would you say defines the company’s way of working and what do you value most about the team?
“Emsa is defined by a collaborative and customer-oriented way of working. We stand out for our agility and for smooth communication between teams, which facilitates decision-making and project progress. What I value most is the balance between professionalism and closeness: an environment where ideas are shared, collaboration is encouraged and the best solution is always sought.”
In your day-to-day work, what do you think differentiates Emsa in its relationship with suppliers and partners?
“Our strength lies in transparency and a long-term vision. We do not seek transactional relationships, but partnerships in which both parties grow. Emsa acts as a technical and commercial partner, becoming deeply involved in understanding products, applications and market trends to generate real value throughout the entire chain.”
You now assume the leadership of the Performance Business Unit. How do you approach this new challenge and what motivates you most about this stage?
“I approach it with great enthusiasm and a strong sense of responsibility. Over the past year, I have gained an in-depth understanding of the business and team dynamics, and now the objective is to consolidate that growth from a more global perspective.
I am especially motivated by the opportunity to support the team’s development, drive new product lines and continue strengthening our position in markets where innovation and sustainability clearly set the direction.”
The Performance Business Unit has a strategic role within Emsa. What would you say are its main strengths today?
“I would highlight three key aspects: a portfolio of top-tier principals, a very solid technical base and a strong service-oriented approach that differentiates us.
We have the ability to translate complex developments into practical solutions for formulators, which makes us a strategic partner rather than just a distributor. We provide agile solutions to customers and, at the same time, we are honest and transparent when we cannot meet certain needs.”
On a personal level, how would you define your way of working and what do you consider key to leading projects and teams?
“I like to work with closeness and clarity. I believe teams perform best when there are clearly defined common objectives and open communication.
For me, leadership means listening, supporting and giving autonomy, while maintaining an analytical and results-oriented mindset, without losing sight of the human element that makes everything work.”
To finish, a curiosity: beyond your professional role, what do you usually do to disconnect outside of work and which hobbies cannot be missing in your free time?
“I really enjoy spending time with friends and family, discovering new places and disconnecting through outdoor activities.
Whenever I can, I enjoy skiing, as well as reading and doing sports, which help me maintain balance and recharge my energy.”
