Description

Emsa Tecnología Química is the market leader in the distribution of sodium thiocyanate in Spain. Thiocyanates can be used in different applications in the textile industry, agriculture, metallurgy and construction.

 

Applications and uses

Construction: In the cement industry, thiocyanates are used as an early strength agent formulation to reduce cement production costs, improve its yield strength, increase and strengthen cohesion and grinding aid, as well as extend cement life. Another use of thiocyanate in the construction industry is as a setting accelerant in concrete admixtures.

Metallurgy: Sodium thiocyanate is used in electroplating, cyanide copper plating, cyanide silver plating and nickel plating on copper and copper-tin alloy substrates.

Polymer and textile production: As a solvent and intermediate in the production process of certain polymers. In the light textile industry, it is used in the spinning process of acrylonitrile fibers (used as a solvent in the production of acrylic fiber and in the preparation of the coagulation liquid), in fabric dyeing and can be used as a VAT dye.

Agrochemicals: Thiocyanate is a precursor to pesticides/biocides used in the agrochemical industry.
